HOW EXCITING WAS THAT?!?!?!?! Ben Duffus comes into the final kilometre of his first European Skyrun, the highly revered Marathon du Mont Blanc, fighting local star, France’s Clement Petitjean, over a 20 second gap between 3rd and 4th place. He puts the hammer down and finishes on the podium, looking fresh and incredibly happy, grabbing a very significant 3rd place in an event that will probably go down as his breakthrough race.

This 21-year-old from Queensland has just grabbed the attention of the European and global ultra running communities in the biggest way possible. Unknown to the Skyrunning Federation previously, this finish not only puts him 3rd in the world, but makes him an age category Skyrunning  World Champion.

Thank you to our colleagues and the originators of Hoka OneOne across the ocean in Europe, who have been fantastic support and counsel for Ben this week. We know he has appreciated your input. And thank you to Skyrunning Australia/ New Zealand for raising the profile of this incredibly popular European sport for Australians sufficient that a strong team has travelled over for the first time with what looks like 3 Aussie men grabbing top 10 slots so far. Go the girls!!!

Great run Ben!! We are very proud of you. And we think that Scott Hawker is going to have a big grin on his face now as he enters his final preparations for Lavaredo Ultra-Trail, knowing that his Hoka teammate has knocked it out of the park. Awesome.
